Initial Phone Consultation I offer a free 30-minute initial phone consultation, during which I get a sense of your organizing needs. At the end of the conversation, we can set up an initial in-person assessment. Initial Assessment During the Initial Assessment, we look at your space and discuss how it is currently being used and how you would like to use it. We talk about various factors that may contribute to improving the function of the space. This is also a time for me to get to know you a little better, so that I can tailor my work with you to suit your unique style and preferences. The length of time for the assessment varies, based on the size of the area and volume of stuff to be organized, as well as the unique issues of each client. By the end of the Initial Assessment, we have developed a Plan of Action to guide the organizing project(s). We then schedule sessions for hands-on organizing. Organizing Sessions Various tasks are involved in organizing sessions. Organizing often involves sorting through items and deciding what to keep and what to let go of. We decide whether it is appropriate to recycle, donate, or dispose of items in other ways. Together we might develop systems to deal more efficiently with paper or other items that come into your space and require action. Or, we might improve procedures for keeping track of information (e.g. contact information, scheduling details, print or online information for later use, etc.) I enjoy creating systems for anything and everything! During organizing sessions, one of my primary concerns is to help you learn how to organize your space and maintain it. I use my understanding of your particular learning style to arrange your organizing systems in ways that will be easiest for you to maintain. Tune Ups Of course, some people are not easily able to maintain their space as well as they'd like, due to time issues and other priorities. In these cases, it might make sense to schedule regular Tune Ups, where I come and help get things back into order, sometimes making improvements to current systems. The effectiveness of a system is maintained by regularly assessing its usefulness and modifying it to accommodate shifting needs. |
